The dance fusion experience is just that - an experience of dancing.. without judgement, without training, and without expectations. just fun. it’s not zumba, it’s not salsa dancing and it’s not line dancing. You don’t need a partner and you might even make new friends.

Hi, My name is scott shuster. I’ve been a Zumba/dance fusion enthusiast for nearly 20 years . my story goes back to when my kids gave me a 3-month gym membership as my birthday present. I started out ‘spinning’ until one day i walked out of the spin room and glanced into the group exercise room next door and saw it was full of people dancing around, getting exercise, and having a boatload of fun. It didn’t take me more than a nanosecond to decide that was how I wanted to get my cardio.

Some years later, at the encouragement of my instructor, i finally decided to get certified as an instructor. five years later… this is my ‘retirement plan’. now i teach classes at local ymca’s, gyms and senior centers around my area. it keeps me busy & active and i love it!

I’m also certified to teach “aqua” zumba as well. that skill has taken me to exotic places to teach ‘in residence’ at some all-inclusive resorts. i’ve taught at secrets resort in montego bay, jamaica, the hilton la romana in the dominican republic and the dreams vista resort in cancun, mexico.

why “dance fusion” and not “zumba”?

it’s simple.. i prefer pop & funk music instead of latin music when it comes to leading choreographies. i think participants enjoy dancing more when they can connect with the music, and most of the music i use is readily recognizable. traditional “zumba” requires that at least 70% of the music is latin.

Why “the dance fusion experience”?

I want to bring dance fusion, which is essentially organized dancing, out of the gyms & studios and into new and exciting venues which are not traditional for zumba. with that I want to reach out to new participants who want to have fun dancing, but don’t necessarily want to have an exhaustive workout.

I believe breweries & wineries are the newest venues where folks are gathering. they have been offering live music, yoga, line dancing, fire pits, CORN HOLE games and all sorts of fun activities. I also believe weddings, bar mitzvahs and corporate functions can benefit from an injection of fun! And in the end that’s what it’s all about.
